My name is Marshall and looking back on growing up, as far back as I can remember I have always been a very anxious person. At the time however, I don’t think I realised this was the case. I assumed that feeling on edge and anxious all the time without knowing why was just a normal part of growing up.
Things didn’t get really bad until I started studying for my degree at university. Having loads of assignments and submissions is very normal by your third year, but the constant pressure of multiple deadlines coupled with my own high standards for my work was starting to take its toll on my wellbeing.
I was constantly worrying about if my work was good enough, and would often not turn up to tutor meetings or classes at all through fear of people telling me I wasn’t doing good enough. I would often have panic attacks at random times whilst out the house, and I would want to run as far away as possible.
My memory began to be affected, and I would usually be left in confusion and feeling completely disorientated when trying to understand the most basic of information. Anytime I was feeling, distressed (which was a lot) I would have a massively raised heart rate and I would break out in a hot sweat. My weight would also go up and down, as I would often comfort eat as a coping mechanism to deal with the continued and prolonged stress.
It had reached a point where my studies were being affected massively, and I had to suspend my studies to find help. I was put on many different anti-depressants and went to multiple counselling sessions, but none of these routes ever seemed to help me recover. I was seriously worried that I would lose everything; I knew something had to change and that is when I found The Linden Method.

Originally, I was going to do The Home Learning Programme but at that point, I was in such a bad place that I just couldn’t do it. It took a while but my mum finally convinced me to go to the Four Day Retreat and that’s where I learnt all the tools I needed to get myself to where I am today. It was one of the most terrifying decisions I ever made, but definitely one of the best. I could finally become anxiety free!
Since practicing The Linden Method, I have been able to resume my life! I have gone on to finish my degree and graduate with a grade much higher than I expected to get before recovering. This is something I never thought I could have done but thanks to Charles and The Linden Method, I finally got my life back.

I am now in a band, which I absolutely love and probably would never have done before TLM. I travel back and forward, performing in different venues across the UK and I love it. I am back to being the confident Marshall and I’m constantly so excited to see what journey is coming next.
I am now at a much more consistent weight, and I am often found in the gym. Before practicing TLM, this simply would not have been possible, I wouldn’t have put myself in a situation where my heart rate would be elevated or anywhere where I felt that people would look at my progression etc. This made a huge impact on how I felt about myself and it really affected my health at the time.
I no longer constantly feel anxious or worried by unseen things, and I have been able to take the control back of my life. I do everything I used to do and so much more because I am no longer worrying about what everyone may think. The Linden Method changed my life and I will forever be grateful for what I have been able to achieve since going to The Retreat.

I am living proof that you can make that change. I was terrified I would fail my degree and because of TLM I managed to achieve that and so much more.
